Chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate. That about sums up my day properly. Besides chocolate though, I spent my morning touring the lovely, quaint city of Toulouse. The tour consisted of wine, cheese, and duck tasting- yes I said duck, it was pretty good- and visiting some monumental sights in the city. Since Toulouse is pretty small there wasn’t much to see. We saw the cathedral and basilica, walked around the town square, and had some free time at the market. After all of that our program gave the rest of the day off!! All that free time meant one thing, shopping!! Now I’ve got to toot my own horn and say that my self control while shopping today was incredible! My wallet has never been this happy before after a day out of shopping. Today I finally experienced that foreign thing called “window shopping”. As pooped as I was, there was no time for a nap. My friends and I headed straight off to dinner where I enjoyed a juicy steak alongside some perfectly crisp French fries! Now to the most important part, the chocolate. Backing it up to before the shopping began, my friends and I had midday desserts, and I ordered a waffle smothered in Nutella with chocolate and Speculoos ice cream on top! Ooh I’m licking my lips just thinking about it. If that wasn’t already sugary heaven, for my dinner dessert I had chocolate, Speculoos, and Nutella ice cream shaped into a flower on top a waffle cone! Food has never made me so happy before! I now will spend the rest of my life trying to find a dessert as good as the ones I’ve had today. Toulouse has been such a relaxing trip! No rushing to see every sight, no long walks to find a metro, and no hurry at all. I’ve enjoyed taking it slow and just soaking it all in! This calm getaway was just what I needed after all the trips I’ve taken this month. I can’t wait to get back to Barcelona and continue to fall more and more in love with the city I live in! Being relaxed has given me the energy I need to keep exploring and trying new things back home! So thank you France for all the chocolate and winding down time you’ve given to me. Au revoir!
