London Day 2.

Props to me for cranking out multiple blog posts in one day. Let’s hope I never get this behind that I won’t have to do it ever again. So what did I do on Saturday November 23rd?

One efficient thing I’ve learned about being a tourist is to always take a bus tour. City bus tours allow you to learn more about the city and see a little bit of everything. The benefit of doing this is that once you’ve seen everything, you can pick the places you actually are interested in and go back to those later. Our city bus tour here in London was a bit different from normal bus tours. The winter special allowed for us to use our bus tour tickets for two days and also get a free boat tour on the Thames! The majority of our day was spent on the bus freezing on the upper deck, but also getting to see some pretty amazing views. The one stop we did take was at Buckingham Palace. Since we missed the changing of the guards, there wasn’t much going on, but it was still interesting to see the spot where Prince William and Princess Kate stood after their wedding. Back on the bus tour we saw more things like Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, The London Eye, and St Paul’s Cathedral. I love learning new facts about every city I visit. I’ve never been interested in history before, but now I’m really interested in learning more about each city I visit. When night time came, my mom, sister, and I went to the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland Festival. It was amazing!! Not only was it huge, but it had every carnival game and more. There was ring toss, mini roller coasters, and even bratwurst hotdogs! This event only made me more and more excited for Christmas!

Since the United States is the only country that celebrates Thanksgiving, being outside of the US means that everyone is gearing up for Christmas. Normally I don’t start getting into the Christmas spirit until after Thanksgiving, but since I don’t have that here, the Christmas feeling started coming in early November. All the decorations and lights and music make me giddy with joy! I can’t decide whether I’m excited for Christmas itself or the fact that Christmas means I’ll be back home. Nonetheless, all the lights in London are beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Cheerio!
