Point Loma Days 28- 30.

Oddly enough, my pastor was on campus today. While having lunch with him and a friend, he asked us “What is it like to be surrounded by other Christians?” My initial response was that it’s nice, and I really do enjoy it. But later that night when a friend prayed over my future to God at our table during dinner, I realized that it’s not just nice, but it’s amazing.

For a while I reflected on my friend’s action, and it struck me how special it meant to me. When else will someone pray over my life in the middle of a crowded cafeteria. Who else will take the time to stop what they’re doing, and genuinely ask God to step into my life and do His will for me. I didn’t ask her to pray for me, but she did it anyways.

I’m incredibly privileged to live in a community where people love God and therefore love on everyone else too. A community of people who pray to an all powerful God and a community of people who give you scripture not random googled quotes. I live in a place where professors uplift you and peers encourage you. Everyday I see examples of how Christ wants us to live by observing other people, and it teaches me how I can do the same.

Sure this may not be what the world is like outside of Point Loma Nazarene University, but it gives me a safe and welcoming place to call home. From studying abroad, I’ve learned that no matter where you are, the house of God will always feel the same. It will always be a place overflowing with love, compassion, generosity, and welcoming people. So what is it like to go to a Christian school surrounded by fellow Christians where class is structured by Christian beliefs? Well, it is like waking up and knowing every aspect of your day is filled with God.
