LoveWorks: Support Letter.

So many wonderful opportunities have come my way, and I’m thrilled to take part in one of fourteen mission trips occurring this summer. For three weeks this July I’ll be embarking on a trip alongside a team from Point Loma Nazarene University to serve in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We are invited there to visit churches, spend time with children living on the streets, fellowship with youth, and participate in feeding ministries. The DRC is amongst the poorest nations on earth, and yet the local churches are moving to meet the community’s spiritual and physical needs. The presence of my team creates energy and directs attention to the local churches that we will be visiting.

As scary as traveling to Africa may seem, I want to learn more about other cultures and understand life outside of the United States. Isaiah 6:8 states. “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying. ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” While serving internationally is both a new and foreign opportunity for me, I want to live a life seizing every opportunity to enthusiastically serve the Lord. God has put a love of volunteering in my heart. From teaching Sunday school in San Diego to playing with kids in a Tijuana orphanage, I’ve learned more from them than I could have ever taught. While not required to participate in these activities, I offer my time because I enjoy seeing the difference it makes in a person’s life. At the end of the day, I don’t serve for people to praise me, but so that through my actions I am glorifying the name of God and spreading His light to those living in darkness.

I have full confidence that God is calling me to take part in this journey, but I would not be able to do this without your love, prayer, and financial support. If able, monetary support can be sent through the enclosed donation card or available online at www.pointloma.edu/loveworks under “Donor Information”. All gifts are tax-deductible when made online or checks are made out to ‘PLNU LoveWorks. Donations made on my behalf would be highly appreciated, but most importantly I ask for your prayerful support over my trip. My prayer request is for the strength to preach God’s word though there may be language barriers and disbelief in what I’m saying. My trip this summer will not be easy or simple, but I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
