Hawaii Day 33.

A break. A break was exactly what I needed half way through my internship. I was burnt out, and my grasp of energy slowly started to slip away from me. List of to do’s got longer as my hours of sleep grew shorter. Though I love what I’m apart of, I just needed time away to rest. What I’ve learned from my internship is that ministry isn’t a Monday to Friday job. Ministry is all day and everyday. It can be tiring, but it’s totally worth it in the end.

In the meantime, a week away on the stunningly beautiful island of Kauai was something I couldn’t argue with. Stepping away from my routine to completely relax while exploring new territory was blissful. There were no kids to watch, no emails to respond to, and best of all no alarms to wake up to. I had never been to Kauai and had absolutely no idea what to expect. Would it have a big city vibe like Oahu? Would it be quiet like Maui? To my delight it was unlike anything I could have imagined. Saying Kauai is beautiful is an understatement. The coast was beautiful. The canyon was beautiful. Everything and all things were reminders of God’s magnificent creation.

Seeing the magnificence of Kauai was breath taking. It blew my mind to think about how it was all created. Hawaii continues to remind me how God makes beautiful things. He crafted the earth, and He crafted me. The God that made the universe built me in His image. If ever there was a shadow of doubt in my mind, all I would have to do is look out my window and up to the mountains to be reminded that God is wonderful.
