Hawaii June 15th.

Lynn and I have learned that we get absolutely nothing done when Pastor Joy is gone. Somehow we manage to goof off and scroll through our phones for hours and accomplish very little. So with Pastor Joy gone, we spent the whole day finishing a task that should have been done in an hour.

The morning started off with hope, but that ended just as quick as Lynnie’s two minute chapel sermon did. It was going to be a good day, and we were going to get work done. Of course we didn’t though. Sort of like Lynnie’s sermon, we had a plan and knew what we needed to do. We had a few tasks we knew we could do on our own, but in the end it just didn’t work out the way we thought it would. *Disclaimer: for any intern directors who may be reading this I did end up finishing all that was asked of me by the end of the day and double checked with Pastor Joy to see what else had to be done before leaving.*

The highlight of my day was exactly what Lynnie and I weren’t supposed to be doing. In the process of goofing off we started listening to music from last year’s VBS. As soon as the song played, we whipped out our VBS dance moves and knew every step. Neither of us had listened to the music since last summer, but somehow we remembered every lyric and could do every dance motion. It was one of those moments that will always make me smile. If anyone else saw us they wouldn’t understand how hilarious it was or what we were doing, but as Lynnie and I swayed to the ocean breeze I thought it was great.
