Barcelona Day 22.

Because today I didn’t feel like doing anything. I just sat and laid in my bed. But in all honesty, it was a lazy day. I woke up at 1, and didn’t leave my house until 9. Although I didn’t do anything today, I had such a great day! While locking myself up in the cave, I accomplished numerous mini tasks like looking up hotels for my mom or checking out airfare for future adventures. The only reason I did end up leaving the woman cave was for la Merce closing festivals! La Merce is a massive festival with free events happening all over Barcelona. Unfortunately, my timing was horrible, and I did miss most of the fun, exciting events like the human towers and the fireworks run. Yet I’d like to think that tonight made up for all of that. Tonight’s closing fireworks show was 30 minutes long including fireworks shot up above the Montjuic Castle, fireworks going off from the ground, and a Montjuic fountain light show all in one. Let me just say this, Barca knows how to throw a festival. These fireworks weren’t the distorted hearts and happy faces you see in Amerca; they were the ‘Oohs’ and ‘Aahs’ that had your mouth hanging low because you were just too amazed. A minimum of five large fireworks shot out and one time while numerous littler fireworks were shot down below. At the same time as all of this was happening, the Montjuic fountain was spraying higher than I had ever seen it and in colors that matched the fireworks. Better than Disneyland or Fourth of July, the 30 minute la Merce closing fireworks show will be one that I’ll never forget. I’m already starting to plan my trip back to Barcelona for Merce next year! 🙂 Adios!
