Dublin Day 3.

I must admit that I’ve absolutely fallen in love with this city. Dublin’s charm has won me over in such a short amount of time. The people are so sweet, the town is so cute, and there isn’t anything I don’t love about it here. Today, my roommate and I had planned out a pretty touristic day. We wanted to see the sights and go where we thought it would be fun. That plan changed when we met a really nice man in the park who told us a few cool places to go to. It is actions like these that make me love Dublin. We were just sitting there, watching him and his friends play with their dogs in the park, when he was caring enough to help us out. The first place we visited that he suggested was Kilmainham Gaol- a jail operates by the British during Irish civil wars and wars with England. Though a jail will never be my first place to visit in a new city, the nice guy from the park said it’s a great place to learn more about Irish history, and indeed it was! At the jail we learned more about England’s involvement in ruling Ireland and how the Irish fought for their independence. I was quite creeped out knowing I was standing in the same room where men were executed, but it was all such an interesting experience. After our visit to the jail, we walked along the Liffey River to get to the Jameson Distillery. The nice guy from the park told us how it wasn’t worth it to go to the Guiness factory and how he preferred the Jameson Distillery. I knew nothing about whiskey, nonetheless Irish whiskey, but like everything else, it was all part of the experience. Our tour taught us how you make whiskey and specifically, how John Jameson made his Jameson whiskey. At the end of the tour we were even got to taste a 5 year old Jameson whiskey. I have never tried anything so smooth as this Irish whiskey! I can only imagine what the 25 year old Jameson tastes like. Since places in Dublin close much earlier than in Barcelona, we had very little time to walk around the shops. We did however find a store called Penney’s with the most affordable clothes that I would actually wear! I don’t think this was a coincidence though, because when I had seen the design of Penney’s store bags I knew immediately it was related to Primark! Now, for those that don’t spend their lives watching beauty videos on YouTube, Primark is a store where many of the beauty gurus from London buy their clothes. So you could say this was another Nando’s situation where I just had to see why all these celebrities I’m obsessed with love these places. Even if I didn’t buy anything, I now can say that I’ve been to a Primark, well technically Penney’s. Since it was our last night in Dublin it was time to buy some souvenirs! I ended up buying the usual postcards, some socks with four leaf clovers on them, and even a cute sweater that said Ireland on it. I wish I had bought more stuff for friends and family, but Ireland was way more expensive than I thought it would be. Speaking of expensive, the place we ate dinner at was so pricey! Well worth it, but pricey. We went to the restaurant where the nice guy from the park worked and had the most delicious lamb platter! There was lamb chops, lamb steak, and even lamb Shepard’s pie! Oh how I wish I could eat it all again now. Rather than have drinks again, we made our way back to Nando’s to have a delicious chocolate cake that we had the night before. And that’s where the night ends. We walked back to our hotel really sad that we would be leaving the next morning. Dublin stole my heart in such a short amount of time! I already plan to come back and spend even more time in this cute little city. I probably said cute a billion times in this post, but it’s such an accurate description. Dublin is a cute city, and I can’t see how anyone would argue against that! Slán!
