Point Loma Days 85 – 90.

Let’s talk summer. My summer plans are looking quite extraordinary this year. The opportunities my school has allowed me to take part in are amazing to say the least, and all I have to do is get through the stress and madness of finals.

After only a short week home, the first ten weeks of my summer will be spent interning at a church in Hawaii. Let me repeat that, interning at a church in Hawaii. At a church in Hawaii. In Hawaii! I can hardly wrap my head around the idea of doing what I love in a place that is my perfect getaway. Now I know it’s not all fun and games, but being on the lovely islands of Hawaii doesn’t sound all too bad to me. Being at Loma I’ve developed the passion of ministering to children. I love their innocence, and the way that they love immensely. In ministry, I want to be able to teach them about God their king, God their father, and the God that loves them just as much as they’ve been able to love me. So to say I’m excited to go to Hawaii this summer is an understatement. It’s going to be an experience that I will cherish and remember forever.

Equally as exciting, the next three weeks of my summer post- Hawaii will be spent serving on a short-term missions trip in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I’ve discussed details of my Congo trip before, and won’t elaborate too much- because after all that’s what the  ‘LoveWorks’ tab is for- but as the days countdown to boarding that plane, my heart jumps with both excitement and nervousness. I’ve never done something similar to serving on a missions trip, and I don’t really know what to expect. My prayer is that God will use me in whatever way he sees fit, and that I’ll be able to show his light to the people in the DRC. It’s going to be a new and scary experience, but I know that it’s going to change my life so unexpectedly in incredible ways.

My summer is going to be eventful and fun and God filled. It’s going to be a time where I really hope that my relationship with Christ can grow further than it currently is. It’s going to be a summer full of serving and giving up myself for the needs of others. I can’t wait to finish school, and just serve.
